THE Islamic afternoon call to prayer, the ‘Ezan’ will be broadcast from the Auburn Gallipoli Mosque minaret this Friday, July 25.

Auburn Councillors voted unanimously to allow the one-off call to afternoon prayer on the final Jumuah Day of Assembly during Ramadan.

Councillor Semra Batik said approximately 25.5 per cent of Auburn residents were of the Islamic faith and the call to prayer was very important to many in the community.
